I don't know about everyone else, but I cannot wait until it's DRESS weather. I slide open my closet everyday & I swear all my colorful pretty dresses are calling out to me to wear them. Sad thing is I am itching to, but no matter how large my desires are, the clouds & the occasional rain do not permit me to. I love just throwing on jeans & a tee or blouse, but nothing beats slipping into a cute little dress (or my other top fav, a romper). I think just about every guy can come to a consensus to say that nothing looks better than a girl in a flattering dress. Well fellows, most of us ladies think so, too.
So come on mr. sunshine! Let me ditch my jeans & jackets & play dress up!
With love & anxiousness,
Crystal
This past month, my voice has been on this raspy toll (as if it's not raspy enough -___-) and this week is one of those where I feel like there's a stone/frog/boot down in my throat. For those of you that may know me well, its once in a blue moon that I get sick. Or well, to rephrase that: it's once in a blue moon that I'll admit that I'm sick. I don't know why but you could say I am (or try my best to be) persistent about creating a backbone for everything. Being sick is one of them.
Anyway, today in class I said (under my breath) that my throat felt horrible and immediately following my petty complaint came a voice that said,
"you're sick?
Here....
*rummages through her backpack*
...have this. It's best with honey and hope you feel better."
And long behold my acquaintance-of-a-classmate gives me "The Throat Coat" aka (in her words) one of the best teas to cure what I have. Not only did I smile because of the fact that I love tea (and am another one to share the tea and honey tip); but because of the fact that she did all of it out if will, randomness, and most importantly-- kindness.
And for that moment this act really made me forget about my throat, my skyscraper pile of homework, work, everything I have to do today, tomorrow, & the next day; the natural disasters in Chile, Haiti, and southeast Asian islands, bills to pay, the virus on my computer...everything that I was worried about.
The point I'm trying to make is that in that one simple act, especially done by someone I barely even know--everything seemed a bit better. I honestly believe that kindness can exist in someone if they remember to recognize it. Nowadays it seems like we're all too caught up with our own lives that we forget to ask others how they're doing (& remain genuinely interested), or how they're feeling, or what have they've been up to. And don't get me wrong, I'm not here to preach about how we are all criminals in this but I'm here to say that it can make a difference in someone's day. I'll be the first to admit that no matter how golden your heart may be, everyone can be anyones' honey in their tea for that day. And there's no problem in that...afterall, "you never know what's hiding behind that person's smile." =)
Sincerely,
Jenny =)
As I was driving to work today, I came across an original sample that my brother put on my iPod a couple years ago. It immediately made me think of my good friend/mentor Chris's post on how important/rejuvenating it is to discover a bunch of R&B, soul, and hip hop samples; especially ones that your parents used to listen to. Not only did I enjoy the privilege of driving windows down, but you could say I experienced an "eargasm" that I almost forgot about. This particular original was Bobby Caldwell's "Open Your Eyes." Not only is this song one of my all time favorites, but I'm sure many of you could relate considering how many people go "APESH*T" (One of ChrisCab's other terms, haha!) when they hear "The Light" from Lonnie "Common" Lynn. It's not one of those songs that you grind to, but is definitely something that just sets the mood.
I absolutely love this song. One of those I'm-mouthing-the-lyrics-every-time-I-hear-it-but-not-in-your-ears-like-a-creeper type of songs, and I never get tired of it. I've always hoped that whomever I end up with in the future can share this kind of passion with me for this song, otherwise they're booted...just kidding. But I've seen so many people share so many smiles to it, and my family friend even used this motto (inspired by this song) as her wedding theme! How many songs turn into wedding themes? Ya, I thought so! Haha. :)
Anyway, I thought I'd do the honor of sharing this original and it's future renditions that have kept me satisfied. So "darling open your eyes, let me show you the light..."

Today marks my brother's 22nd birthday. :) No matter how weird our inside jokes are, how much we bump heads, or straight up don't get to see each other (even though his room is one inch away from my door) during every school week, I love the fellow. He's a man of good values, has a great ear for music, one of the most CREAtive co-founders, is ridiculously personable, has so much insight to everything, & makes his ambitions tangible. Can't say I'm not proud of him.
So here's a toast to my best friend --Cheers & Happy Birthday, Joti!
Love,
Jenny & Your Team
